Each year Visit County Durham runs a 6-month national marketing campaign in partnership with visitor economy businesses, featuring high profile advertising including national media partnerships, out of home advertising and influencer commissions. A range of marketing opportunities are available for businesses to be part of, and benefit from, the campaign activity.

Lumiere Breaks
Maximise your business visibility during Lumiere Durham! Lumiere lights up Durham City bi-annually each November (13 – 15 November 2025), attracting thousands of visitors from across the UK. As part of our Lumiere Breaks campaign, we showcase how visitors can extend their visit into a longer overnight stay, and explore more of the county.
If you're planning special offers, extended opening hours, events, or packages around Lumiere, let us know. We'll include your information in our promotion to help drive footfall and promote your business to a wider audience. Activity will include a dedicated Lumiere Breaks content hub on thisisdurham.com, social media and e-newsletters.

Online Advent Calendar
Each December Visit County Durham launches an online advent calendar, to provide partners with a seasonal promotional platform. Behind each door visitors can find different prizes from Durham’s top attractions, restaurant, accommodation and experiences.
In return for offering a prize, each featured partner will receive promotion across our website and social media channels, as well as opt-in data from competition entries.
