Waybeams renewal project successfully completed ahead of schedule 22 March, Stanhope, Weardale

Weardale Railway is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Waybeams Renewal Project, marking a significant milestone for the heritage railway company. The project, which commenced on 26th February, has been finished ahead of schedule, ensuring smooth operations in time for the Easter holidays.

Wayne Dixon, General Manager of Weardale Railway, expressed his gratitude towards everyone involved in the project, stating, "We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the hardworking individuals who contributed to the success of the Waybeams Renewal Project. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of our Track Maintenance team and Civil Engineer, Trevor Horner."

The Waybeams Renewal Project aims to enhance safety and reliability along the railway line, ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience for passengers. Furthermore, Wayne acknowledged the invaluable support from MH Southern for supplying the new Waybeams, emphasising their crucial role in the project's success.

With the completion of the Waybeams Renewal Project, Weardale Railway is pleased to announce that the railway will reopen for the Easter holidays. Passengers can once again enjoy scenic train journeys, including travel to Bishop Auckland and other destinations served by the railway.
