Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa takes top honour at prestigious awards

Publication Date: 25th Jun 2026

THE ON-going investment and the continued rapid growth of a County Durham hotel has been recognised at one of the North East’s prestigious award ceremonies.

Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa beat off strong competition to take the title of Larger Business of the Year at the North East Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, held last night (18 June) at Gateshead’s Glasshouse.

It is the latest success for the hotel, which over more than a decade has continued to build Ramside’s offer, making it a go-to destination in its own right.

It’s most recent addition, the £9.2m project The Pin, which incorporates state-of-the-art driving ranges, electronic games, a bowling alley and an American style food and bar offering, has put the hotel on course for a projected growth of 40 per cent this year.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen for the award which we see as real recognition for the continued investment in Ramside Hall Hotel,” said hotel owner, John Adamson.

“The Pin has had a phenomenal response since the day we opened but that’s not just a success story for us, it’s for the region as a whole as it turns a spotlight on what we have to offer and helps grown visitor numbers.”

Along with employing 400 staff, the hotel is also now investing heavily in sustainability measures, including solar generation saving 160 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

With its award-winning spa, championship golf courses, four restaurants and unique accommodation including a range of large and small treehouses, the hotel continues to make a significant contribution to the North East economy.

“Ramside Hall Hotel is not only responding to changes within the hospitality sector — it is actively shaping what a modern destination resort should be,” said John.
