County Durham to feature in BBC Two’s Pilgrimage programme this Easter

County Durham is set to take centre stage this Easter weekend as it features in the latest series of the popular BBC Two programme, Pilgrimage. 

The new series, Pilgrimage: The Road Through the North, begins on Easter Sunday at 9pm on BBC Two, with further episodes airing on Monday and Tuesday evenings. All episodes will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer. 

Across the three-part series, seven well-known personalities embark on a journey of reflection and discovery, following historic pilgrimage routes through the North of England. 

Viewers will see County Durham showcased as part of this inspiring journey, highlighting the area’s rich heritage, landscapes and spiritual significance. 

The Northern Saints Trails, including the ‘Way of Life’ and ‘Way of Light’ routes, feature at the end of episode one and the beginning of episode two, offering audiences a glimpse into the county’s unique pilgrimage experience. 

Visit County Durham lead on the development and promotion of the Northern Saints Trails on behalf of the wider region, working with partners to bring this internationally significant project to life. The series provides a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the routes and inspire visitors to explore them for themselves.
