Publication Date: 30th Jul 2026

Visit County Durham has celebrated a successful start to VisitEngland's My Coast Has the Most campaign, helping to inspire thousands of people to discover the county's spectacular coastline.

Three promotional videos showcasing the Durham Heritage Coast, Dalton Park and Seaham Hall have already attracted more than 24,000 views, contributing to a nationwide celebration of England's coastline that reached more than 1.1 million people in its first week.

The initiative invited coastal destinations across England to celebrate the unique places, experiences and businesses that make their stretch of coastline special. Visit County Durham joined tourism partners, content creators and local communities from across the country in sharing inspiring stories and showcasing the very best of the Durham coast.

Consumer reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with 99% of emotional engagement expressing joy as audiences shared their favourite coastal memories, recommendations and future travel plans. National media, including The i Paper and Time Out, also supported the initiative, helping to amplify its reach even further.

Promotion will continue over the coming weeks as VisitEngland builds on this early momentum ahead of further activity planned for the autumn, ensuring County Durham's stunning coastline continues to reach new audiences and inspire future visitors.
