Durham showcased at world's largest travel trade event
Visit County Durham, alongside Visit Northumberland and Destination North East England, recently showcased the region at ITB Berlin – the world’s largest travel trade event. Bringing together thousands of tourism professionals, media and buyers from across the globe, ITB provides a powerful platform to raise the profile of destinations and build international partnerships.
As part of the VisitBritain stand, the North East team highlighted the region’s unique mix of heritage, landscapes and culture, with a strong focus on inspiring international travel trade to develop new itineraries featuring Durham. Meetings with tour operators, travel buyers and media created valuable opportunities to grow awareness and drive future visits.
The visit also included attendance at IMM Germany (International Media Marketplace), where Visit County Durham met with leading travel writers to share story ideas and explore opportunities for future media coverage and visits.
Building on this international activity, the team continued their engagement with travel media just a week later at IMM London, strengthening relationships with UK-based journalists and influencers. The event provided a further opportunity to pitch new stories, generate coverage and keep County Durham front of mind with key media ahead of the peak travel season.
Together, these events form a key part of Visit County Durham’s ongoing work to promote the destination internationally and domestically, building partnerships that support continued growth in the visitor economy.
