Visit County Durham and Visit Tees Valley join forces to promote active travel to European market

Visit County Durham and Visit Tees Valley joined forces to showcase the very best of their joint walking and cycling offer on the international stage at one of Europe’s leading active travel events. 

Representatives from both organisations worked in partnership to promote Durham and Tees Valley at Fiets en Wandelbeurs in Utrecht, the Netherland’s flagship cycling and walking fair, held from 13–15 February in Utrecht. 

Visit County Durham and Visit Tees Valley highlighted the breadth and diversity of active tourism experiences available, from scenic cycling routes and walking trails, to challenging rides and long-distance treks, with the opportunity to experience the area’s fascinating heritage and stunning landscapes along the way. 

The Utrecht event attracted thousands of walking and cycling enthusiasts from across Europe, providing an opportunity to inspire new visitors and position Durham and Tees Valley as the ideal destination for an active and sustainable holiday.

Events like Fiets en Wandelbeurs are an excellent platform to inspire visitors who are seeking destinations that combine great routes, beautiful landscapes and memorable experiences.”
