The team behind Kynren – An Epic Tale of England is celebrating after being shortlisted in three categories at the North East England Tourism Awards 2026.

Kynren has been named a finalist for Tourism Festival or Event of the Year, while its dedicated volunteer team is recognised in the Volunteer of the Year category.

Completing the hat-trick, Kynren’s Visitor Operations Manager, Jaden Dixon, has been shortlisted for the Rising Star Award, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the attraction and the wider visitor experience.

Now in their twenty-second year, the Destination North East England Tourism Awards celebrate the very best of the region’s visitor economy, shining a light on the people and places that make it one of the country’s most welcoming destinations.

Kynren joins an impressive list of finalists representing the diversity and creativity of tourism across the North East.

All shortlisted businesses will now face a second stage of judging, which includes visits from independent experts and mystery shoppers before the winners are announced at a glittering spring ceremony.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be finalists in three categories,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO at Kynren.

“Kynren is built on teamwork, creativity and community spirit, so to see both our volunteers and rising stars recognised is a real honour.

“It reflects the passion and dedication that go into making every visitor’s experience unforgettable,” she added.

The North East England Tourism Awards are delivered in association with the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, giving regional winners the chance to represent the North East on a national stage in 2026.

With tourism now worth more than £6.6 billion to the regional economy, the awards play an important role in showcasing success stories and inspiring further growth.
