Durham shortlisted for national group travel award
Durham has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Group Travel World Awards 2025.
The county has been chosen as a finalist by Group Travel Organisers in the Group Travel World Club which is made up of people who have visited and enjoyed their trip so much that they have chosen it as a finalist in the Collective Destination Category.
Voting is now open, and everyone is being encouraged to get behind Durham which is up against other top UK locations including the Isle of Wight, Liverpool, Wiltshire, Southend on Sea and Newmarket.
Kynren has also been chosen as a finalist, with the annual outdoor production up against ABBA Voyage, Thursford, the Eden Project, Milton Keynes Theatre and Ironbridge in the Best Group Friendly Attraction.
The Group Travel World Awards nomination follows Durham recently being shortlisted as a finalist in the Best UK Destination category at the Group Leisure and Travel Awards.
Michelle Gorman, managing director, Visit County Durham said: ‘To be nominated for one national award is fantastic but to be nominated for two is just phenomenal. It is testament to the tremendous tourism offer in Durham. Group travel contributes a huge amount to our visitor numbers because it is such an accessible destination for groups offering so much to see and do.
Visit County Durham works alongside partners throughout the year, delivering activity to raise the profile and appeal of the county as a group travel destination, including representation at key trade shows to secure inclusion on itineraries and tours.
I would also like to congratulate the Kynren team and wish them the best of luck.’
